Made in Taiwan by meiken Made in Taiwan by meiken
Still life assignment for Painting II. I set up the still life and did it over the course of last night. About 6-8 hours I suppose.

Chalk pastel on Canson watercolor paper (odd combo, I know), 15x15".

Edit 11-08-2009: For an interview, I decided to polish this piece off the proper way. It's finally finished!

this is super the textures great colors even better. I just feel like, maybe you need to add shadow to the green ball down in the left hand corner But besides that its really a super job

The use of light and reflections is wonderful. With over 600 views it is getting a little lime light :-) any idea what the symbol on the lam means?

I love your material combination, but I think the fabric needs some crisp edges between highlights and shadows, in a few places. The way you rendered the marbles is amazing, and you obviously have skills. Next time, I suggest you play more with the composition, I love that it has depth, but the foremost marble begs to be moved a bit to the left. This is fantastic work for just a few hours!

*lol, sounded a bit odd but makes sense. Watercolor paper has texture (and expensive). I like the soft pastels. Its effects are so smooth although I still have problems doing the details.*

*I like the background... looks like watercolor to me. The lamp (is it?) is lovely... love the screws in the hinge (>_<;)*
